Last night, my good friend Marc Bordet and I, attended a fundraising event in the South End called "NeckTies 2010". This event is sponsored by Washington Gateway Mainstreet, a non-profit group very active in the revitalization and preservation of Boston’s South End district. Marc and I both love the great restaurants, shops and lively arts scene found in this section of Boston. There is always something fun to do. One of our favorite events is First Fridays, where artists open their studios to the public every first Friday evening of the month. There are literally hundreds of studios that you can roam freely about, meeting the artists and learning more about their work. The neighborhood is ever-evolving and Washington Gateway Mainstreet promotes the South End, attracting more businesses and helping to keep the neighborhood vital and safe for residents and patrons.
Part of the NeckTies event involved artists decorating ties and scarves for a Silent Auction. Marc and I worked together on our set, shown here.
There were many other great Silent Auction offerings, including artwork, jewelry, wines, sports event tickets, and gift certificates. It was a very fun night for all and money was raised to keep improving this wonderful neighbor. A big thank you to Carla Richards, Chair, Organization Committee for the Washington Gateway Main Street. Marc and I asked Carla to put us on the list to help with this event next year!
