With the six panels nearly finished, Susan and I have begun a little work in the Foyer. As I mentioned previously, we have had a lot of problems securing the scaffolding we need to do this job. We had some ridiculously high quotes, a lot of misunderstanding of what type of set up we actually needed, and another company who came to look at the job, but never followed up with a quote or returned phone calls. That has set us back a bit. We had hoped to wrap this job up early this week because I have Jury Duty on Thursday and who knows what will happen with that. I actually love Jury Duty, but since we have so much work right now, the timing is horrible. I’m hoping I do not have to serve this time around.
We are doing the finish over the existing base color, which is in excellent condition. Here you see where we have begun to tape out.
More taping…
Just so you can get a sense of the size of this foyer, this side has a large fireplace and is used as a sitting area.
Under the stairway was one area that we could actually complete before the scaffolding arrives. The walls here have the first layer, which is a Portofino plaster, rolled onto the wall and gently knocked down with a trowel. The overhang, shows the second layer, which is a darker stain.
With this small section complete, we now must wait for the scaffolding arrive. This should happen tomorrow, so we’ll see.
