Tax Prep

It’s that time of the year…

Taxfile

I tried to chain myself to my desk today and get my receipts organized and entered into a spreadsheet for my accountant.

Paperwork1

It seems no matter what angle I view all the piles…

Paperwork_2

the receipts are all still there, waiting for me to enter. The good news is that in August, when I was out visiting my Mom while she was recovering from her mini-stroke episode, I managed to enter all my receipts from January-August. 😉

So, I enter a little, I fool around a lot, I enter a little more, I check a few blogs, email a few friends…

I look at the artwork hanging on my walls that my daughter did when she was in elementary school.

Kermit
I smile back at Kermit, who is sitting across the room from me.

So, maybe I did not use this Office Day quite as productively as I should have, but I did get all the receipts sorted by month and entered 2 months before I gave up for the day. I am going to try to have everything ready by the middle of next week to drop off at the accountant’s office. Now that the piles are staring at me on my desk, that will be some incentive.  While I was avoiding the spreadsheet I did find a fun idea for the one, long bare wall in my office. 🙂

Office_wall

This wall is one I’ve gone back and forth about what to do with.

Paintbrush_2 I saw this giant paint brush with paint palette in the Pottery Barn Kids catalog some time ago. At first I thought I might buy them and hang them on the wall as shown. They’re big, over 5′ long. They are also expensive, $89 and $129 for both. So, I decided I really should just paint these on the wall in a trompe l’oeil style so they look 3D. Also, I can personalize the colors and I think I’ll put paint on the brush and have some dripping down the wall. That will cost me $0, since I have all the materials. I’m adding this to my "To Do List". Oh, so I guess my Office Day was not so unproductive after all! 😉
