A Must Read…

I am currently reading a fabulous book by Cathie Black, entitled Basic Black: The Essential Guide for Getting Ahead at Work (and in Life). For those of you who are not familiar with Cathie Black, she is the President of Hearst Magazines and has been in the media business for 40 years. In her book, she very candidly tells how she was able to climb the corporate ladder. She shares not only her successes, but the mistakes she made along the way, and readily points out what she should have or should not have done in various situations. As a business owner, I am finding this book fascinating, invigorating, and just a great read! I am seeing ways to make some positive changes in my own business, and it is helping me to really take a close look at how I manage my business and life, in general. This is a great book to give to a young college grad seeking her first job, or any woman who is trying to further her career or make a career change. I will be passing my book onto my niece, who is just starting out on her career path. There is some valuable insight in this book for all women in business.
