This bathroom recently had a face-lift: new floor, vanity, custom cabinetry, tile, and shower. All that was missing was a little something special for the wall behind the toilet, which juts out, just a few inches.
I took a sample of the tile that is on the opposite wall, as well as the wall color and floor tile and created three sample boards, using a variety of plasters. I knew right away that a horizontal plaster finish would give that organic and modern feel the homeowner was seeking.
Here are the three samples I made, with the tile and floor samples. I liked them all, but really had to see them in the room with the light to determine which would work best.
Here is a closer look at Sample 1.
Sample 2.
Sample 3.
Once we looked at all three samples in the bathroom, we both agreed Sample #1 worked the best with the floor, tile, and lighting.
I love the way the wall softly shimmers. It now balances out with the opposite wall, picture below and the room has a real spa-like feel to it.
