May has been a very busy month, both professionally and personally. All great things happening in my life right now, so no complaints. They are just all happening at once! I want to post every day to my blog site, or at least every other day, but lately have just been too busy or too tired to do so. You know how that goes… there are just not enough hours in a day. This past week was particularly insane. With my daughter now home from college, her unpacked boxes overflowed from her bedroom into the hallway and on into the dining room. We live in a very small 2 bedroom apartment, so it does not take much clutter to make it look like a disaster area. After I came home from work each day this week, I would help Sarah organize her various piles and find places for all she was unpacking. She has all her furniture from her apt. she had during her senior yr. at college, in storage. She decided she would bring more boxes over to her storage unit and put some other boxes in the garage for a yard sale. I gave up my half of the garage I share w/my brother, (who lives upstairs from me), so she could stack her yard sale items out there. By Friday, I had schlepped many, many boxes to the garage for her since she did work very hard during the day sorting through everything and labeling it "yard sale", "storage unit", "trash". I wanted the house clean for the arrival of my Mom, my other brother, sis-in-law and new nephew, who were all arriving for the weekend. I hosted a celebration party for Sarah w/her father and stepmother on Sunday (today) at a local restaurant. We invited relatives from both sides of the family, plus about 15 of Sarah’s friends. Lot’s of fun. I had some fun centerpieces that I will post pics of later. One of my brother’s took the pics of that because my camera was not cooperating!
I got a lead on a good sized job mid-week and had to scramble to pull together the estimate overnight. The job entails doing a finish on a lot of white woodwork in a house to match some dark cabinets they have. The homeowners want the woodwork to match throughout the entire house, which includes a sizable amount of paneling in the dining room and 2 story foyer, plus crown moldings, doors, windows and baseboards. I should know in a week or so if I have that job. Also, 2 former clients called me this week to book large jobs and I met with 2 new prospective clients. By Friday, needless to say, my head was spinning.
Saturday I went for a manicure/pedicure w/Sarah. I love getting a pedicure because it lasts quite a long time, but the manicure is mostly lost on me. I only did that for the party today, but as soon as I return to work on Tuesday, my nails will be covered with paint. What little nails I have, that is! I typically use my nails as a tool, scraping off paint, etc., so they are never very long. I am always amazed at how great these salons can make my sad nails look!
Tomorrow all my company will depart, the celebrations are over with, and life should settle back to a more normal pace.

congrats on your daughter’s graduation!
Sounds like a full house but I’m sure you had a wonderful time.
Best of luck with those proposals! I hope you get the work 🙂
