Butler’s Pantry Progress

I am really having a lot of fun this week working in this small space. This is an opportunity for me to use some products I don’t normally use often and to experiment with a brand new finish.

Varigated leaf
I just love these little variegated leaf flakes. I think I picked this jar up at the SALI convention this Summer, but cannot remember which booth. I believe Jackie Baxter at Lasting Impressions carries a good selection of the leaf flakes. And while I am mentioning Lasting Impressions, I recently placed an order for some Adicolor Desire’ sample sizes and they were extremely helpful. My order arrived within a few days and included a few tips about the product line, hand written on a note!
Close up

This close up shows how pretty this Fall Mix looks! Well, it actually looks much prettier in person. I’ll try to get a better shot when the project is completely finishes. These are tiny pieces of multi-colored metalic leaf flakes in Fall colors. A gold leaf sizing is first applied through a stencil, then the leaf is applied.

Fleur de lisOh, I will definitely try to get a better picture. 🙁 I have 2 short walls, opposite each other, with the leafed Fleur de Lis designs. These walls are to the left and right, when you step into this pantry. The background the wall is done with Portofino plaster mixed with some gold Bella Fresco. The walls are quite rough and uneven in this space, so I rolled on 3 coats with a shaggy roller and skip troweled on a final coat.

Foil
The panels of the base cabinets are getting a finish that utilizes this gold hologram foil. This is just the first layer of the finish, so don’t worry, it will look much better! I just wanted you to see how neat this foil looks before I add the next layers. The foils are quite easy to use. You just apply some sizing, lay the foil on, shiny side up and burnish with that stiff brush you see lying on the floor. The panel on the right still has the entire foil on the door. The sheet gets pulled off, leaving just the gold applied to the surface, (panel on left).

I should finish up with this project today, so will post on Monday.

Have a good weekend!
