Continuing on with this second Foyer job, today I am featuring Susan Seifer, installing a Modello™ design on a small, low ceiling that is in this foyer.
The Modello™ design was custom sized to fit this space. This particular design was selected because it coordinates well with a large, inset circular tile design in the center of the floor of this foyer. I don’t think I have a picture of that floor design, so will try to remember to snap one and post later. The Model lo™ design is being done directly on top of the glaze finish we are doing on all the walls in this foyer.
The first layer Susan is laying down is a Shimmered Suede by Perfetto, which she is troweling.
Once the first layer was dry, some silver leaf is applied to certain sections of the design.
Ceilings… so much stretching and contorting our poor bodies!
But look, she’s still smiling!
Because leafing is so messy, we created this little "tent" for Susan to work in. The foyer is open into the Family Room, so there was no door to close.
And here is the finished product! Actually, a little glaze was added to the silver to antique it a bit, so I will post one more photo of that once I take it.
This looks great. I will be doing a ceiling Modello where there is a chandelier that I have to work around. That should be a fun challenge!
