First of all, Happy New Year! Ah, here we are facing the first Monday of 2010 with our long "To Do Lists". My list includes revamping this blog site a bit, so hopefully you will begin to see some changes soon. I am getting a little technical assistance tomorrow.
Susan and I wrapped up the Silver Leaf Dining Room Ceiling on New Year’s Day. We just had a few more hours to put in, so decided to take the afternoon on January 1st to do so.
Here is a Half and Half look at the ceiling. The right side has been brushed and burnished out, the left still to do.
One of our biggest challenges was keeping the cat out. There was no door to close, so we hung up plastic and weighted it down with boxes of kitty litter. A pain for us to keep moving every time we needed to exit/enter, but it worked.
We found that these inexpensive hake brushes worked well for this job and the Shop Vac became our best friend.
The ceiling is now done in this photo, but our plastic and tape still in place.
I think I mentioned that this is just a temporary light fixture. Once the chandelier is installed we will make any necessary adjustments.
A closer look at the ceiling (above) as well as a final look without tape and plastic (below).
We also had a large, very heavy mirror to silver leaf for another room. We set it up on a table in this room, to keep the mess contained.
Susan and I will be returning to this house soon to do a finish in the hallways. We will take more pics of the dining room once it has been pulled together with wall paint, furnishings, etc.

Looks great! You work with it so well, it was wrapped so clean and perfect. Like Regina I can’t wait to see your completed touch on this house. I’ll check on for your dinning finishes. I was truly inspired by your work.
