I almost forgot to mention the use of this very handy and time saving "Top" part stencil that Cutting Edge makes to use with this Hourglass design. Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of it in use, but it is, as you see, just a short stencil, about 4", that contains a repeat of the top portion of the design. Unlike a traditional stencil, the design is cut about 1/4" from the top of the mylar so you can stencil very close to the ceiling line. I don’t know what others do, but I still like my design to come right to the ceiling line, so I just went around with a small brush and filled it. This all works up very quickly.
For the final steps, I added a very thin, metallic orange line, followed by a little wider gold line, by hand with a brush.
Here’s a closer look:
I say, "final step", but actually, I have one more step to do, which I will complete tomorrow.
I ordered these gems from Dance Shopper http://www.danceshopper.com/ , along with the glue and this little "gem picker". I will apply one gem in the center of each of those circles in the design.
I am also presenting the samples boards for the foyer tomorrow, so we’ll see how that goes. I’ll be reporting back. 🙂
Gorgeous! I can’t wait to see the finished pics, Carol!
