It’s getting down to the wire. All I have left to do is to antique the door frames around the cabinet panels. I thought this base color might work alone, but once the panels were done and the blue tape came off, the paint looks too bare. I will just rub a little stain and seal over the paint. Of course, I did not have this with me, so that will be the next trip. The door was removed, but the carpenter is returning to continue filling where the hinges use to be. He will also paint to blend the patched areas in with the woodwork.
Here is a closer look at the cabinet doors. The gold hologram foil you saw installed previously, is now in the background with a sheer striae in eggplant over it. The flowers were done by rolling some Lusterstone through a stencil. I actually combined two stencils from 2 different designers for this look. I took 1 overlay from an old 3 overlay Dogwood stencil I had from Andrea Designs (no longer available), and for the stems and leaves I used Royal Designs elements. I have so many multi-overlay stencils, from back in the day, that I try to use one of the overlays only, giving it a more updated look. It’s a good way to recycle all those stencils we’ve purchased over the years!
Here’s a close up of the beading stenciled onto the edge of each of the shelves. I did them in golds, but then decided to bring in a little of that variegated leafing. I did 3 of these in a row, spacing the groups in between every 15 or so gold beads. I’ll get a better shot later.
Lastly, a view of the side wall and shelves. I will post the final picture when I add the antiquing to the cabinet doors and have the new knobs installed. I will also be adding some more Fleur de Lis designs behind the glasses. At first I thought it might be too much, but now everyone agrees that it would be nice to be able to see these from the couches in the seating area and not just when you walk into the pantry.
