I have been doing a lot of prep work at The Big House and a lot of straight painting of ceilings, walls, and trim. I thought I might find this work tedious and boring, but I am actually finding it quite relaxing! There is a lot going on in this house, with bathrooms being gutted and redone, walls opened up in other rooms, and many other changes happening to various rooms. The homeowners, as I mentioned previously, have been staying in a hotel for 5 weeks with their almost 3 year old twin boys and a big, lively, 2 year old dog. Today they checked out of the hotel and moved back home.
Almost all rooms are still in a very unfinished state, but the new heating system is in and working, the boys room is done and a guest room is being used for a makeshift master bedroom. I love the way the boys room came out. I took lots of pictures today, but none came out very clear. I will post one here now, but will recharge my camera batteries tonight and take new pictures tomorrow. This room is too cute not to be seen! 😉
See what I mean? Very hard to see! But… the entire room has giant bubbles floating around on the walls! More pics tomorrow. The room was being set up today, and I was busy trying to get the boys bathroom painted. That will be the reverse of this room….white walls with light blue bubbles.
Here I am all set up in the boys bathroom. I got it all primed and almost all painted today. The window is being replaced, so I can ignore that for now. 🙂 It’s a small room, with one door right in front of my ladder that leads into the boys room and another door to the left of the sink that leads into another room.
Tomorrow I will finish up in this room and move onto the Play Room. That room needs a lot of prep work, so I’ll be working in their just prepping for a few days and also working on some of the rooms on the 3rd floor which are now ready for painting.
While I am painting away inside, there is a small crew working outside installing new copper gutters and replacing/repairing many of the slate shingles on the roof. They were much happier working in today’s warm weather vs. last Friday’s freezing cold weather! What a job! I hope they are being paid very well. They have to haul up heavy saws to cut the shingles, haul up the copper gutters and more tools for that…and they are always smiling and friendly!
