This is Day 2 of my Cabinet Job. I thought I would show you two of the stencils I used from the Stencil Library, that I ordered uncut. Many of the stencils from the Stencil Library can be ordered cut or uncut. The uncut version saves you some money if you have a little extra time to cut it yourself.
I started with this wave stencil, the smaller of the 2 stencils ordered uncut. Here you see the black lines that you follow for your cutting lines. I taped the stencil to a piece of glass and used a stencil burner. You can also use an Exacto knife, but I felt the burner would be easier cutting the curves.
Now this fish stencil took a little longer to cut than the waves. 🙂 I set myself up in front of a LifeTime movie to get this one done! Again, I found the stencil burner worked best, especially when cutting out all of the fish scales.
Here is one of the three panels I am doing with this stencil. I am not finished with the panels yet.
Here is the left section of the cabinetry. Again, all in a very unfinished state. Just basically laid out.
This is the right side of the cabinetry. All in some state of work at this time.
Right now, I’m not happy with the starfish panels. I am going to see if I can wash them off when I return in the morning. I think I’d rather have 1 starfish in each of the six small panels under the drawers. I’d like to see 4 long shells where the starfish are now. I think that will make more sense. I want the 3 fish panels to be the focal point and the other panels will be simplified. Tune in tomorrow to see if I can save myself …
Fish panels look great! I agree, the panels with starfish and shells look a little “bottom heavy.” Maybe three starfish in small panels and three shells in large panels might do the trick?
I can’t believe you cut out all those stencils! Whew! Don’t be paranoid – you are a fabulous artist! Maybe the other painter they use is wondering why they don’t let her do the fine cabinetry! 😉
