I made some great progress today and am right on schedule, much to my amazement! I did most of this fence scene the day before so just had to add the flowers, dragonflies and some detailing to have this wall complete.
Because this is my fourth Learning Zone Child Care Center, I’ve got some stock scenes that I use for each room. The owner wants to keep the Centers consistent, so we try to use the same themes wherever possible. The budget is tight, so only one wall is done in each room.
This is going to be the reception/office area. The shadow of the window and blind is cast on the wall in this shot, but that’s the best I could do. I will add some words to some of the circles, such as "Learn", "Love", "Laugh", while other circles will get some pattern to bring in a little color and interest.
I love the fact that all the other contractors have ladders of various heights set up all around, so I have not had to even think about moving a ladder. One always seems to be exactly where I need one!
This is the dreaded Alphabet Wall, in progress. I cringe every time Melissa says she wants this wall because it takes forever to lay it all out. You really need quite a long wall to stretch out the alphabet and it doesn’t help that I put a shape behind each letter, which adds to the space dilemma. It does look nice when it is all done though, which is why I still do it! I was able to finish this wall today, but never got around to taking the finished picture. All this furniture will not be placed like this. It’s just temporarily piled here for lack of any other available space at the moment.
The second bathroom was ready, so I did some more bubbles. This is a reverse of the basement level bathroom, which had white walls and blue bubbles. I like the white bubbles on the blue better.
I will add that all the contractors, young and old that are on this job site are so sweet when it comes to relating to what I am painting. Most of them have young kids or grandchildren and they very proudly take their photos out of their wallets to show me! Very sweet. 🙂
The owner of the Learning Zone Child Care Centers, Melissa Ananias, was featured in a local newspaper today. The story was about the next Center that will be opening in March. I’ll be over there working in about 2 weeks. You can read about Melissa here.

Hello – I stumbled upon your blog one day and have saved it to give myself too-difficult-for-me home project ideas!
I love the bubbles you’ve painted and would love to attempt to do this for my daughter’s bathroom. Can you give some tips on how you painted them? How did you paint the interior of them?
GREAT work by the way – all of it!
